Moving around for position

English opens up a lot of doors by allowing you to setup for a shot using more than one path. This is very important because a lot of the time a path will be blocked by object balls.

The power of english can give you extra speed when driven into a cushion. This is easily shown when using outside english when the object ball is close to a rail.

Just a light hit is needed to have the cue-ball come down the table and into our target zone, (represented by the triangle).

In this example we are using left-hand english (or left-side spin).

Note: This positioning comes up a lot in straight pool. A similar drill will be found in the 14.1 continuous section.
